Electronics and ICT Academies to organize Faculty Development Programme on
Fundamentals of Databases during 23 June – 3 July, 2017 at
IIT Guwahati, IIT Roorkee, IIITDM Jabalpur, MNIT Jaipur, NIT Patna and NIT Warangal

Faculty members in college/university/institute and industry persons may apply so as to reach the nearest local coordinators listed below at the earliest not later 9-June-2017.

Preamble: MeitY, (Formerly DietY under MCIT), GoI set up at Electronics & ICT Academies some selected institutes in India. Each E&ICT Academy is given with some jurisdiction states in India. The role of academies are to offer faculty development programmes in standardized courses and emerging areas of Computer Science, Electronics, Information Communication Technologies; training & consultancy services for Industry; Curriculum development for Industry; CEP for working professionals; Advice and support for technical incubation and entrepreneurial activities. Such academies at IIT Guwahati, IIT Roorkee, IIIT Jabalpur, MNIT Jaipur, NIT Patna and NIT Warangal together conduct a 10-day Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Fundamentals of Databases” during 23 June - 3 July, 2017. Experts from IITs, NITs and other premier institutes deliver lectures through National Knowledge Network (NKN) and participants at above stated institutes can interactively learn from these lectures. In addition, local course coordinators at respective institutes take care of practical and practice sessions.

About FDP: Database Management Systems is a core course in Computer Science.  In 80 hours, during ten days, this FDP covers principles for managing the data, data models, database design, query processing, transaction management and concurrency control, overview of security and database administration.
Though DBMS course is widely offered through various modes, this FDP through NKN set the objectives to train the faculty to teach the course with deeper understanding of all the concepts with gained practical exposure. Rich experience of the speakers at premier institutes will make the participants to feel the difference. 
Major Course Contents:

• Data Models, Relational Data Model.
• Relational Algebra-Calculus
• SQL, Query Processing.
• E R Modeling; Database Design.
• Transaction Management; Concurrency Control; Overview of Crash Recovery.
• Database Administration.
• Flavor of BOSS-MOOL OS.

Who can apply: Faculty members in engineering colleges, MCA/MSc offering colleges or  those who are teaching DBMS in other allied colleges. Persons from Industry who need exposure/refresh to the contents of this FDP can also apply.
How to apply: The format of application can be found in this brochure and it is to be filled-in and send through speed-post to the course coordinator with DD for registration fee. E-mail with scanned copies of application, DD must be sent to course coordinator.
Participants in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Goa states and Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Puducherry UTs can apply to course coordinator at NIT Warangal.
However, participants are free to choose any of the above six E&ICT academies depending on their convenience/interest.
Registration Fee Particulars:
Faculty members: Rs. 3,000/- (Three Thousand rupees only for GEN/OBC)
Faculty members: Rs. 750/- (Seven Hundred Fifty rupees only for SC/ST)
Persons from Industry: Rs. 9,000/- (Nine Thousand rupees only)
Demand Draft in favor of ''Electronics and ICT Academy, IIITDMJ'' payable at Jabalpur or On-line Mode: Account Name: Electronics and ICT Academy, IIITDMJ, Jabalpur Account No. 50302042708 and IFSC: ALLA0212433.
  Boarding and Lodging will be provided at FREE of cost. No Travel Allowance will be paid to the participants.
The participants who wish to attend at E&ICT Academy, NIT, Warangal need to send a crossed demand draft(DD) drawn in favour of “Director, NIT Warangal” and payable at any Nationalized bank located in Warangal city of Telangana State. For other E&ICT Academies,  please refer the concerned websites to know the payee details and payee bank details.
Selection: 50 participants based on first-cum-first-serve basis. 10 more participants from industry will be allowed. Govt. of India norms apply in selection. The list of selected participants will be notified in the E&ICT web sites.
